Aging takes a toll on our appearances in many ways, though the most commonly talked about issue is wrinkles. But one sneaky way aging rears its ugly head is, well, your head. Or rather, your hair.

As we age, many men and women suffer from hair loss and thinning. This can take a significant toll on how we feel about ourselves. Though there are topical treatments to assist in this, many do not give us ideal results, leaving us feeling like there’s really no solution other than surgery.

But there’s actually a very effective, non-invasive treatment that can help!

PRP or Platelet-Rich Plasma is used in generating blood flow to hair follicles, which stimulates healthy hair growth.

What It Is:

It’s a process in which blood taken from one’s arm is placed into a centrifuge. This device spins the blood in order to separate plasma from the rest of the fluid.

This enriches the plasma with a higher number of platelets. The plasma is then injected into the target area.

How It Works:

As the tiny needle punctures the skin, it creates a small “wound”, which enables the plasma to stick to the area and heal it, stimulating growth in the area and release of cytokines, which are proteins that impact the cells around them, hence, enhancing hair growth.

How Long Does Process Take:

Depending on the size of the area, the procedure can range anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour.
