What is PRP?
PRP is blood plasma that has been enriched with platelets. As a concentrated source of autologous platelets, PRP contains several different growth factors and other cytokines that can stimulate healing of bone and soft tissue.
How does PRP work?
Blood must first be drawn from a patient. The platelets are separated from other blood cells and their concentration is increased during a process called centrifugation. Then the increased concentration of platelets is combined with the remaining blood.
What is PRP used for?
PRP is a popular treatment in cosmetic surgery. It can be used to treat hair loss or stimulate hair growth (as seen in these photos and videos). It can also help treat wrinkles or scars in the face, hands, and neck. Known to some as the "vampire facelift" it is less invasive than plastic surgery.
How long does the procedure take: Depending on the area treated, 20 minutes to an hour.
